The GE Resort takes advantage of an exotic site along the coast. The building bounces across the site lightly touching down in an attempt to exist mostly above the canopy of local vegetation and leave the ground naturally wild. The crystalline forms present a range of views across the ocean as well as interesting framed moments between the building itself. Rather than filling the ground with pools and restaurants, these amenities have been embedded into the building creating a series of lounges in the sky. Each lounge has elevated views out to the ocean as well as lightwells from above bringing the sky into the building. In addition to allowing for a minimal footprint, the angles of the building are calibrated to provide shading below the building that works to provide passive cooling during the site’s extensive warm weather season. Spatial pockets within the skin’s double façade are strategically located to cool the site’s warm breezes.
